The Aurochs
Crafted to Explore
This is the Auroch (Aw-roks): a handmade Off Road camper van, on a fully reconditioned Defender. The Aurochs was the grandfather to all modern European bovine, and traversed Central Europe across the Eurasian Steppe. We like to imagine that we have captured the spirit of the beast in our vehicle, creating something capable of thriving in the same areas as its namesake.
The Pod
Our unique, aircraft inspired habitation pod is a fully handcrafted structure made from polished aluminium. It is handcrafted using the same techniques that built pre-war cars and vintage aircrafts, such as the spitfire, and it means a lot to us to keep them alive.
The Platform
We chose the Defender as it is an iconic vehicle, recognised for its capability all over the world.
We start the build on a new galvanised 130 chassis, installing fully reconditioned running gear, with nut & bolt restoration and then upgrade to air suspension.
The Systems
Our electrical system is supplied by Victron and powered by a combination of solar and alternator charging, with the option to use shore power.
Our water system is heated by a SureCal boiler which utilises engine heat to heat the water. Heating is a from a Eberspacher diesel heater, which is run from the extended full tank.
All systems are designed to customer requirements and can be discussed and adapted.
The Interior
Internally, we have designed a multi-use space which allows for flexibility. This space is fully customisable and we will be happy to adapt the design to your ideas and requirements.
The 001 space has a galley kitchen complete with an induction hob, and accompanied by a six seater sitting area with a four seater dinning table that can easily transition to a queen-sized double bed.
We selected bamboo for this design owing to its strength, weight and aesthetics, however, as with everything else this is fully customisable.
How to buy
We are a small manufacturing company building only 2 or 3 unique vehicles a year. The basic price for the Aurochs is £350,000 We aim to complete each build within 9 months, but it can take up to a year. If you would like to place an order for one of our unique builds, we ask for a deposit of £20,000 for the purchase of the base vehicle and the new chassis to allow for the long lead time. We then take stage payments at four points during the build, with the first being one month before work starts and the last being the day before collection.
